My inktober will be in Linocut !

Bonjour !

This is Inktober again !

Inktober is a challenge for al artists who want to get better at inking, or any other technique.

I wanted to improve on a new medium I started not long ago : linocut !

linocut whale

My challenge for this inktober, that I ended up calling linoctober for me, is to do 1 linocut for each week of october. It’s 5 linocut in total and I took a theme that I like : Travel.

I’m very new to linocut and although I might not be able to give some tips yet, I can talk to you about my experience.

As of today I already made two prints : the forest and the whale.

And it had been very fun and helped me find more focus in what I do, as each carving stroke is important. I need to keep my focus during all the time I am carving my linocut.

I invite you to go check my instagram. Each week I do a give away to offer to one of my followers the linocut print done during the week :

I really hope I can go to the end of my challenge. I am not the kind to give up and I have managed to finish the inktober challenge the past 3 years. You can watch the sketchbook tour of my inktober of 2017 here .

Carving the whale linoblock took me two days.

It’s quite long for my standard, but during these days I was lucky enough to have a wonderful sun during the whole process. I was outside and I collected the whole process in a video :

Thank you for reading and give me strength to finish this challenge !

Don’t forget to participate in my giveaway and see you soon !

Salut !

Shop opening !

Bonjour !

This is so exciting, I am opening my etsy shop today !

Visit my shop now !

Ok ok, I admit the shop has been opened for a while now and I have been selling a few items, already, custom portrait and original art. But I had not really advertised it did I ?

I wanted to do this grand opening to start a series of illustrations, you may remember the Garden people series I did for friends a while ago ? You can see some of these ladies in my gallery, all were gifts that are sent but I wanted to do a few more to do a limited print series.

The theme picked for this series is Lilly to stay with the flower theme, 3 watercolors linked by a love story :

The "Lys" limited print series

There is only 15 prints of each, all numbered and signed.

The original artworks are also for sale in the shop, I even made a few video process of the paintings so be sure to check it out :

I’m really glad to have started this adventure and I’m planning on doing other limited series like this and propose it in my etsy shop.

For now I hope you’ll enjoy this one. I loved drawing these 3.

Oh and I almost forgot !  I am starting linocut and one of my first test is this Lilly print, It’s a fun technique and I quite love it, maybe I’ll do more in the future, but for now I can’t sell those so I am offering my first prints to the first 20 shoppers who buy something in my shop, as well as Lilly stickers as long as I have some.

Thanks for reading this article ! And Thanks for visiting my shop, the link is here.

Salut !

New books and back to work !

Bonjour !

Summer is over and it is time to get back into the studio for a new year of productivity. Actually I did work a lot this summer, I traveled a bit for sure but I was also working on this child book :

Book illustrated and written by Isabelle Arné for Titalbum

It is fully made in watercolor and I am quite proud of the result. Although it is written in French I highly invite you to have a look at the full book on Titalbum, it is free to read !

Don’t hesitate to give a good review to give a chance to my book to win the contest ! Yay !

Be sure I will talk more about my process and the illustrations inside the book in future posts. It was a real challenge for me to create this book and I felt how much I improved in watercolor.

But there is more ! Yes, I made the covers for 2 books, fully illustrated Soda pop drop and autumn is the time where new books get out in shops, so these 3 are now available to buy on Amazon.

It makes me so happy to see all these come to life, thanks to the authors to have trusted me with their book covers, and Mallory to let me illustrate all her book.

On top of that I am very glad to say that the Kickstarter by Tabulit that I talked about in a previous post is funded and my comic will be in it. I’ll happily wait for that ! What a good time 😀

Thanks for reading !

I’ll have a bit of reading myself now.

A bientôt !

AFAR: A Comic Anthology About Distance

Bonjour !

I am very glad to announce to you that I made a comic for an anthology book about long distance relationships made by Tabulit. The comic I made is called “Trains” and is about living appart from a loved one :

Comic for Tabulit comic book collective

I’ve been working with Tabulit for a while and I love what Alex Park does with his projects, I already took part in the first anthology book they made ” Furr: A Comic Anthology About Cats “. I had an illustration in it, but this time I decided to go for a short comic of 6 pages.

Train comic page for tabulit fiction anthology

It was a good opportunity for me to experiment with watercolor and the black Fude brushpen by pentel that I actually use all the time. It was a great experience and I am kinda glad about the pages that came out and I am over excited to see the book come to life like the previous one ( that I happily added to my book collection ! ).

So I highly advise you to have a look at the Kickstarter, and check out the other artists that participated in the book, among them Jade Armstrong, Joe Whitt, Renee Liang, Cathrin Peterslund, Rado R. and many more !

Thanks for reading and see you soon for a new blog post !
