You might have come across the kickstarter campaign last autumn. Magikitty, travel journal of a cat wizard, is the consecration of more than 2 years of world building. It will take the form of a mixed story book.
What do I mean by mixed storybook?
Well half will be a travel journal with sketches and illustrations told from the point of view of Fluffy. And half will be comic episodes depicting the story from an outside point of view.

Vous avez probablement déjà vu passer la campagne de financement participative à l’automne dernier. Magikitty, carnet de voyage d’un chat sorcier, est la consécration de plus de deux ans de création d’univers. Il prendra la forme d’un livre d’histoire mixte.
Qu’est ce que j’entends par “livre d’histoire mixte ?”
Hé bien, la moitié sera un carnet de voyage agrémenté de croquis et d’illustrations, le tout écrit du point de vue de Fluffy. Et l’autre moitiée sera des épisodes de BD donnant un point de vue extérieur à l’histoire.
A crowdfunding success.
I created magikitty’s world a few years back and it was about time that a real book depicting the world and its characters came to life. I’ve been very lucky to have an amazing community behind the project, ready to help me make this 120 pages book come true. The book was crowdfunded at 279% and will become a reality this year. The release date for the public is June 2023.
Giving life to a book like this sure doesn’t happen in a day. There was a lot of work before even starting the campaign. I had been talking about the project for over a year on the internet but also IRL in convention. I get it now, the success of a crowdfunding campaign really lies in the communication around the project.
Un financement participatif à succès.
J’ai créé le monde de Magikitty il y a quelques années et il était temps qu’un livre parle du monde et que ses personnages prennent vie. J’ai la merveilleuse chance d’avoir une communauté derrière moi prête a soutenir le projet, et à faire que ce livre de 120 pages devienne réalité. Le livre a été financé a 279% et verra le jour cette année. La date de sortie pour le public sera Juin 2023.
Donner vie a un tel livre ne se fait pas en un jour. Il y a eu beaucoup de travail en amont de la campagne. Cela faisait près d’un an que je parlais du livre sur internet mais aussi en vrai, sur les salons auxquels je participe. Je le comprends a présent, le succès d’une campagne de financement participative est fortement dépendante de la communication autour du projet.
Making it real.
The work on the drawing side is quite lengthy as well. Before lauching the campaign, I had a a good part of the book done, plannned and lots to show. It probably helped people figure what the book would become.
Right now, the book is into it’s real production phase and I’m working hard on having it finished for the deadline. Right now the books is more than 50% done. And I’ve almost finished the second comic episode appearing in the book. It is very rewarding to see the page filling up with finished work. I’m really confident the book will look very good in the end, and I can’t wait to have it in my hands.
Rendre le livre réalité.
Le travail de dessin et de réalisation du livre est assez massif également. Avant de lancer la campagne, j’avais une bonne partie du livre préparée, planifiée, même dessinée et j’avais beaucoup a montrer. C’est probablement ce qui a aider mes soutiens a se projeter dans ce que le livre allait devenir.
En ce moment, le livre est dans la véritable période de production et je travaille dur pour que le livre soit finit a la date prévue. Actuellement le livre est terminé a plus de 50%. Et j’ai presque finit le second épisode de BD qui apparait dans le livre. C’est très satisfaisant de voir les pages terminées s’accumuler. J’ai confiance en moi sur le fait que le livre sera super joli à la fin, et il me tarde de l’avoir dans mes mains.

So let’s hope now that I’ll have enough time to finish it well. I’m confident right now but many things could happen that can make the book late. Work overload, printing issues, shipping issues. Some variable are hard to plan. But I’ll keep you informed when it comes out.

Donc espérons que j’arriverai à tout finir à temps. J’ai confiance en moi actuellement mais beaucoup de choses pourraient arriver qui pourraient faire que le livre serai en retard. Trop de travail, des problèmes d’impression, des problèmes d’envois. Certaines variables sont dures à prévoir. Mais je vous garderai informés quand il sortira.
